Cat Call’s Guide to Finding a Brooklyn Veterinarian

Make sure your cat sticks around for all 9 of its lives by establishing a trusted relationship with a Brooklyn veterinarian early on. It’s especially important in advance of any health issues or medical emergencies (chocolate, anyone?).  And although it might be easy to choose a veterinarian simply based on location, before you choose there are a few things you should consider before making your decision.

1) Is the facility clean, comfortable and well-organized?

2) Is the staff caring, calm, competent and courteous, and do they communicate effectively?

3) Which emergency services are available?

The Humane Society has put together a full list of questions in their article titled Choosing a Veterinarian.

And once you do decide on a veterinarian, be sure to let your pet sitter know where to take your cat in case of an emergency while you’re away.

So without further adieu, below is Cat Call’s official Brooklyn Veterinarian neighborhood guide!

5 Reasons Cat Sitting Is Better Than Boarding.

Going away on vacation? In-home cat sitting is a great alternative to dropping your little guy off at a boarding facility. Below are five reasons you should hire a cat sitter this holiday season.

  1. Your cat can remain at home and keep to their regular routine.
  2. There is no travel related trauma.
  3. Your cat will not be exposed to illnesses and parasites that are often found in kennels and catteries.
  4. Cat sitting is a convenient option for older animals that may have debilitating health problems.
  5. Your cat is unlikely to receive special attention in often over-crowded pet boarding facilities.

Still not convinced? Check out The National Association of Professional Pet Sitter’s article on the benefits of using a pet sitter.

Music for Cats.

Music has long been known to have a calming effect on both animals and humans. With this in mind, here are five songs you can listen to with your cat to create a relaxed environment before a lengthy separation:

1. Max Richter – Shadow Journal / 2. The Dead Texan  – Aegina Airlines / 3. Nils Frahm – Unter / 4. Growing – Primitive Associations / 5. Iasos – Crystal Fountains of Light
